The Edgar GUI provides a standard drop down menu system along the top of the window. Just below the menu is a row of icons on a tool bar. Most of these icons serve as shortcuts to functions from the menu system. If you place the mouse cursor over an icon, a short description of the function will be briefly displayed.
Along the left edge of the Edgar window are two buttons or tabs. When pressed, these will open control panels. Press the tab once to open the panel, and press again to close the panel. The left side panels are the Configuration control panel and the Acquisition control panel. These panels are used to control the instrument configuration and acquisition parameters. These controls will not be present if the acquisition mode is set to None. (The acquisition mode is controlled from the Acquisition tab under Tools, Preferences.)
Along the bottom edge of the Edgar window are tabs for Status, Shell, and (if enabled) Log. The Status tab displays real-time information from the connected instrument (if present). The Shell tab provides a command line for the built-in Python interpreter. As with the left edge panels, press once to open the panel, and press again to close.
Along the right edge of the Edgar window are tabs for Coad, Compute Spectrum, Processing, Radiation Calculator, and Peak Tracker. The Peak Tracker tab will not be present if the acquisition mode is set to None.
