File Export

The File Export dialog can be accessed from the main drop down menu at File–Export, or by using the Export icon. When you access the dialog this way, the Input File and Output File fields will initially be blank. You can type an input file name directly into the text field, or press the button to browse for a file. By default, the output file name will be the input file name plus the default extension, but you can edit this to whatever output file name you wish. Currently supported export file types are Grams/SPC multifiles and Excel spreadsheets.

If you first open a file, then right click on the file window and select Export, this will open the Export dialog and automatically populate the Input File and Output File fields.

By default, the export will operate over all subfiles (First=1, Last=0). You can edit the First and Last fields to some smaller set of subfiles within the multifile. You can also specify a step size so that, for example, with First=1, Last=0, Step=2 you would export all the forward scans.

When exporting to Excel files, the first few rows of the spreadsheet give “header” type information (source file, x units, y units). For data files collected with an upgraded MR and Edgar, the hardware generated scan number is also included in the column headers. This makes it easy to correlate the exported data file with the Annotation spreadsheet. For data files not collected with Edgar, only the subfile number is included in the column header. The fifth row contains the column headers for the actual data. Rows 6 and later are the actual data. Column A is the x data; remaining columns are the y data.
