The data stream to Edgar is driven by the Ionetrics Annotator. There are two layers to the data stream: a transport layer and a logical layer. The transport layer consists of raw frames to a frame grabber for the frame grabber interface, or raw packets to the network controller for the Ethernet interface. Edgar takes raw data from either interface and assembles it at a logical layer which consists of scans of interferogram data from either 1 or 2 detectors, plus annotation data.
The annotation data consists of 32 16-bit words at the end of each scan. The following table shows the contents of annotation block.

The frame grabber mode is supported by the Arvoo Picasso line of frame grabbers, which provide both fiber optic and copper cable interfaces. Other CameraLink compatible frame grabbers may be supported in the future. The Ethernet mode is supported by Anneth, the Annotator Ethernet interface.
(1)Bit 15 of the Year word is the Remote Start bit.
