At system startup, Windows networking sometimes has problems recognizing other systems on the local network, especially if systems are dynamically added and removed. This is a quirk of Windows networking, not a problem with Edgar or the embedded system software. If this occurs, it sometimes helps to open a console window (command line) and “ping” the embedded system. To do this, enter this at the command line:
ping EmbeddedSystemName
EmbeddedSystemName is the network name of the embedded control system. By default, this is Anneth1.
If the ping is successful, restart Edgar. If not, check your network connections. Most newer network controllers include automatic crossover logic, so that straight through Ethernet cables can be used. If you are operating from an older system, check to be sure that you are using a crossover cable.
