You can setup a dedicated peer-to-peer network between your notebook or
desktop and the embedded system. This allows you to establish a
network connection without any network routers or switches or other
systems. Follow these steps for setup:
- Right click on My Network Places
- Select Properties
- Right click on Local Area Connection
- Select Properties
- Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
- Click Properties
- Click Use the following IP address
- For the client system running Edgar use these settings:
- IP address: 192.168.0.1
- Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
- Default gateway: 192.168.0.2
- For the embedded system use these settings:
- IP address: 192.168.0.2
- Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
- Default gateway: 192.168.0.1
- Click OK
- Click OK
It is possible to setup the embedded system so that you can access it
as a network drive in order to edit files, copy updates, etc. To do
this, follow this steps:
- Boot up and open the Control Panel (using VNC)
- Switch to classic view
- Open Administrative Tools
- Open Local Security Policy
- Navigate to Local Policies, Security Options
- Disable the option for “Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only”
- Turn sharing on for drive C, using
My Computer or Windows Explorer. You may have to create a new share
depending on the rest of your network setup.
Once this is done, you can connect remotely to the default Adminstrator account with no password.
